THE LBV SPRING/SUMMER 2021 TRANSPORTS US TO A FAR-OFF, DESOLATE PLANET SET 1000 YEARS FORWARD IN TIME.
The collection draws influences from the desert’s natural palette of lilac pink, orange, ivory, gold, tan and metallic silver, alongside futuristic eroded rock formations, to render this sci-fi vision to life. Abstractly, two states of matter are used in the inspiration for SS21: liquids with no fixed shape and sculptural solids. The collection’s custom hardware adorns the figure as poured mercury jewels. Raffia adds texture to the collection, as it is intricately woven together with silver beading, releasing into shimmering fringe. Zebra-printed haircalf, coated suiting, sarong-like drapery, and organic pleating snake the body, while lamé, moiré, and lurex cloqué are used to create the illusion of liquidity. These textile juxtapositions result in the creation of a layered desert landscape that encourages us to imagine a future beyond the present, when nature and technology collide and live in harmony.
